Towards the Fall

Unique glass sculpture by Ritva-Liisa Pohjalainen in 11 parts made in Nuutajärvi, Finland, in co-operation with Finnish glass blowers Alma Jantunen, Johannes Rantasalo and Matti Vilppula. Heikki Viinikainen assisted with the polishing.

The shapes are processed with three glass blowers. This technique has been developed over many years by the same team. The work is made by hand using different glass techniques, part by part, from bottom to top. In the end, different parts are combined and the sides are ground and polished to fit each other according to Ritva-Liisa’s drawings.

The work of art: height 920mm x width 480 mm / with the base 570 mm x depth 80 mm

The base: Polished black granite, width 1000 mm x depth 180 mm x height 90 mm
